Approach during any operation you help - My experience and suggestions

Approach for any operation lacking financial funds

Few of my friends thought, it would be useful if i post the knowledge on hospitals and financial adjustments for operations i gained so far. Alright here are they -

Hospitals you can approach -

Most of the institutions take care of heart surgery - If any kid is suffering from heart problems, they can contact Sri Sathya Sai Hospitals for free treatment, Find the address and email below -

Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences
(A Unit of Sri Sathya Sai Medical Trust)
EPIP Area, Whitefield,
Bangalore-560 066
INDIA

Email: adminblr@sssihms.org.in
Tel: +91 80 28411500
Fax: +91 80 28411502

This hospital is always crowded and it is tough for you to get appointment, this free treatment requires lot of efforts. You may call them or you may email them with latest reports to get some information before you go. All they will say is to come there, but stress on availability because you cannot go all the way to bangalore and hear somethink like "It will take some time to get your turn". Now if you cannot get a bed at Sathya Sai, direct towards Narayana Hrudayalaya, here is the address -

Narayana Hrudayalaya,
No. 258/A,
Bommasandra Industrial Area,
Anekal Taluk,
Bangalore – 560 099.
Mail: hrudayalaya@sify.com or devishetty@hrudayalaya.com .

Narayana Hrudayalaya is one of the best hospitals in India and a kind hearted heart hospital too. All you need to do is carry a letter from your surpunch (head of the village in some authenticated letter pad) or from your office or any minimum thing you can get to convince them on your financial inability. You can certainly expect atleast 50% of discount from this hospital.

I am not sure about other hospitals, but you may try this trick any where (By trick, i hope i am not sending any wrong signals).

Sources of Money:

Many of these apply for people living in Andhra and very few may be general -

-> Bring your position to the notice of any news editor so that this information is published in some news paper, wait for 20 days to get some positive signs from donors. Sticking the notice at internet centers will also be a good option. If not funds, get some moral support and contacts who might help you in one or other way.

-> If you are a white card holder in Andhra, get arogya sree card with all the information. You can visit near by Govt hospital and ask them to refer to some good hospital and good doctor (if they know). Once they refer you to any hospital in Hyderabad (Not necessarily Hyderabad, opt it only if you have no choice at district head quarters), Try to get some reference in Hospital through the media reporter in your place or any other resource (this becomes very much necessary because its not easy to get treatment through arogyasree). If you don't get arogya sree in time, do not hesitate to get the attention of hospitals using your ration card. get a letter of authentication from MRO or Collector.

-> If you are not a white card holder, still you require money. Reach out CM camp office with a petition requesting some donation. Reach out opposition party office with a petition to fund them.

The efforts you put will never go waste in maximum cases. Put a comment here, if you need my help as well :-).

To all others, form a group in your community to collect some money when ever you come across any such cases in news papers. If you have a group of 10, you can collect Rs 1000 easily to donate. So when ever you come across such incident, spread it and try to gather some funds.

I will keep it updated with all latest information. Please put a comment, if you want me to add something.

SahayaSpoorthi -- In Detail

SahayaSpoorthi:

“SahayaSpoorthi”, the idea to help the needy is an initiative by the students of Sri Venkateswara College of Engg & Tech, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, 2001-2005 Computer Science batch in the month of December-2007. Though its an initiative by Alums, we attract all our friends into our network to lend their hands for help. In that way, we are around 50 now. The name significantly has the meaning “An inspiration to help”.

Today when you look around you will find people at different stages, rich, poor and very poor. As a human being sometimes you at least feel bad for those who are leading a miserable life, and think “Can I do something for them”. But most of the people fail even after having a strong desire to help because of so many reasons. We people at SahayaSpoorthi believe that grouping these kind of people with a strong will to help will really make a difference and now we are proud to say that we have succeeded at many cases like sponsoring for two Cardiac Surgeries…. a few to mention.

How do SahayaSpoorthi work:

Every member of the team will donate a minimum of Rs.100 every month. These funds will be used to spend for the charity activities like helping needy, orphanage homes, old age homes, poor patients, etc. Each month, a group will be formed to spare their time to visit places and to take survey about the activity required, which gives the plan for the activity, and spend the funds for the planned one.

Milestones:

Ø December:

First month of SahayaSpoorthi, able to collected Rs.1000/- and was donated to Yamini School for Physically Challenged Children (http://yaminifoundation.org), Kukatpally, Hyderabad.

Rs.1500/- was spent to donate blankets (14) to Construction workers staying around Hi-Tech City, Hyderabad.

Ø January: Rs.2800/- has been spent purchasing medicines and provisions for Rakum School of Blind, Indira Nagar, Bangalore.

Ø Feb, March and April: Funds collected during these three months have been used to help a patient who is undergoing Chemotherapy.

Ø May,June,July: SahayaSpoorthi has not made any contribution to any individual NGO/individual treatment. It has helped few other groups, who are collecting funds for few operations. Few cases are , Cardiac case, where Pranay (native of Karimnagar), 7 months old has to undergo a Cardiac Surgery as his chambers in heart were mixed up without separation. The baby was treated at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore. The surgery costs around 2.5 Lakhs and after having discussions with hospital Charity, we could able to convince them for 1.2 Lakh. But unfortunately after performing so many tests the doctors finally said to wait for another 6 months as the kid is too younger for the operation. Significant amount was spent towards the medical tests.

Ø August, September:

SahayaSpoorthi group made significant contribution in terms of money and

moral strength towards Spinal Card surgery for Mr.Phani and also for Cancer treatment to a lady (Accenture Employee’s mother)

Ø October: This month is the most successful. A poor family from Tirupathi, the person owns tea stall. He has two kids, Dwarakanath (6 yrs) and Harshitha (7yrs), and unfortunately both the kids are having a hole of around 14mm in their heart and should undergo an immediate surgery. We have again approached Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore. The operation costs around 2.2 Lakhs and finally made it possible for 1 Lakh after talking to the Charity head over there. SahayaSpoorthi gave them financial as well as moral help.

In recent local news paper we found a case where a drunken father had shown his anger on his kid and made him hospitalized. This happened in a tribal village near to Rajamundry,Andhra Pradesh. Satya Sai Hospitals are taking care of the treatment for the kid, which will cost Rs.32000 and we are helping for this treatment as well by helping other groups to collect complete amount.
